just a few words before I go

Weekend is over. Valentine’s Day is near. Is there anyone who truly loves Valentine’s Day? If you have to be told when to be loving and passionate and romantic, then maybe you shouldn’t be doing it. It’s all a sham.

“Scrubs” is one of the best television shows in years but NBC refuses to give it the time slot it deserves. I’m afraid this may be the last season of the show.

I can’t get this Nina Simone song out of my head. “Laziest Gal In Town ”. “It’s not cause I wouldn’t. It’s not cause I shouldn’t. And you know darn well it’s not cause I couldn’t. It’s simply because I’m the laziest gal in town.” I keep playing it over and over again hoping that I will get bored with it eventually. Hasn’t happened yet. Hmm.

I was told recently that I am not verbally effusive when it comes to expressing my emotions. And for the first time, I realized they were right. How scary is that? I always deemed myself aloof and highly introspective. But the truth is I have nothing to say at any time or during any situation. I speak in cliches because honesty scares me. How lame is that? Enlightenment sucks.

I wish they would do another “Bird” movie. I love Clint Eastwood, but man did Bird get robbed with that movie. Forrest Whitaker — excellent. Diane Venora — superb. But when you walk away from the movie, you think more about the demons that this guy had rather than the genius of the man. They will never do another film. They had one shot at it and they blew it.

While I agree Brokeback Mountain was a good film, it is not the best film of the year in my opinion. Beautifully shot. Great acting but not the best of the bunch. In my opinion, Good Night and Good Luck was the better film. Visually and material-wise, it seemed like a bigger risk to me. Although, I must say, I never thought a movie about gay cowboys would ever be accepted as well as it has been. Word of mouth is a good thing. In fact, all of the best picture nominees were risk-takers this year. I applaud that. Anything that provokes thought has to be good.

Remind me to never go hunting with Dick Cheney.

“Cool disdain. The food of marriage.” Rimbaud wrote that. Is that not a great line? Love it.

Can anyone tell me how the Gastineau Girls got there own television show? Entertainment has really gone into the crapper. Although I never miss an episode of “Grey’s Anatomy”. Love that show!

Who is this Michael Buble fellow? I know I should know him, but contemporary artists scare the hell out of me.

Is Monday morning not the most unbearable morning of the week?
