If you listen to the station, you are probably aware of the little promos I run every two hours or so. Recently, I added a little clip of Lenny Bruce talking about Paul Desmond. I debated whether or not to use it since Bruce uses the word “ass”, which is pretty innocuous if you know anything about the genius who was Lenny Bruce. Anyway, I hope no one is offended. If so, let me know. Not that it would make me remove the promo since I love Bruce’s statement on Desmond. But if I got enough complaints, I probably would take it off since the listener comes first.
For anyone who listens to the station, you may notice sometimes that the name of the tune doesn’t match up with the artist. I have mentioned it before, but since I am sitting here listening to Coltrane’s version of “Something I Dreamed Last Night” and the name displayed is actually Gene Ammons, my frustration compels me to explain that the files are uploaded correctly but some how Live365 reads it as one artist/song when it is something else. Anyway, I didn’t want you guys to think I was completely incompetent. Only slightly so.
Never let it be said that I know everything there is to know about jazz. Just when I begin to wonder if there are anymore great discoveries to be made regarding the rich lineage of this music, another gem rears its lovely head. I recently heard a 1930 recording of Body and Soul, recorded by Annette Hanshaw. Never heard of Ms. Hanshaw, but man I love this song and her voice. Pure heaven. I will be adding this track to the station this week along with others.
I have decided to make the EM Music page and EM Video page. I will make the change soon and will include all the jazz videos and vocalists I come across on the web, especially those from YouTube and Google video. I figure it would be nice to have one place to find all the great videos of legends past.
I am adding a category here on the blog for my MySpace musician friends. I wanted to make a page on the site, but I simply could not think of anything that would be aesthetically pleasing.Â

Due to losing a chunk of cds last week (see here), I wasn’t really in the mood for downloading new music from EMusic or ITunes. I just felt mopey. I am feeling better this week and downloaded quite a few tunes. Plus, a good friend of mine contributed some music to my collection, so there is a great wealth of new music coming in this week. No MySpace adds this week, but I am getting some new cds in the mail soon and I will add them as soon as I get them
